Description

About the event:

This network session will be an opportunity to explore what is meant by ‘culture’ and ‘culture change’ and to consider what this means for us as practitioners of change, improvement and OD. Culture change is the universal call made by NHS employees in every part of the health care system. Regardless of role or seniority we are keen to call on others to change the culture for the better despite an uncomfortable truth that we are all creators of the culture we find ourselves within. This network event will be the first in a series of events focused on climate and culture in organisations.

  • During the morning there will be an opportunity to learn about the NHS Improvement Culture Change toolkit in a session facilitated by Sue Burgin, Development Advisor at NHS Improvement, and time to work through how this can be applied to practical issues we face as leaders for change.

  • In the afternoon there will be time to share other approaches to culture change and models you have used in your own practice along with some open time to share, collaborate and connect.

  • Finally, there will be a mop up session to identify specific questions and challenges, including defining gaps in our understanding and evidence base, that we will use to shape follow-on network events.

Invitation to take part:

Given the nature of the subject we encourage a wide ranging and multi-disciplinary audience across all health and care settings.

Please get in touch with amy.makler@hee.nhs.uk to offer up any tools, frameworks, research pieces, practice reflections, you would like to see included in the design of the day.

Working in partnership, Yorkshire and the Humber Leadership Academy provide a range of offers to the NHS to create excellent leadership and excellent organisations, transforming systems together.

Our regional offer has been informed by a significant consultation exercise with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders across Yorkshire and the Humber. We asked questions to understand the current and future leadership challenges and what those challenges meant for leadership development. It was clear to us that the region wanted more opportunities to learn and develop together while engaged in real work.

As the Local Leadership Academy (LLA) for the NHS Leadership Academy, we provide access in the region to a suite of high quality core leadership development programmes and tools that aim to professionalise leadership across the NHS, including the Graduate Management Trainee Scheme.

Developed with national and international experts, this offer provides a valuable and consistent leadership development offer that gives individuals the necessary support to be the best leaders they can.
